Typhoon Nina was the strongest storm that hit the Bicol region in the last ten years. Albay was one of the provinces that was heavily devastated by the typhoon. Wrecked houses, pools of thick mud and toppled electric posts are what can be seen after the ravaging typhoon was over. Many were people were hungry and homeless after the catastrophe.
S.M.A.R.T. Foundation, under the leadership of its president, Mario P. Marcos and Vice-president, Nida Marcos organized: Kung Hei Fat Choi, a relief goods giving project which was launched on February 16, 2017. In cooperation with N. Gaya Trading and the Royalasia Enterprise Incorporated, S.M.A.R.T. Foundation launched the event after Chinese New Year, hence the name of the relief goods giving project. S.M.A.R.T. Foundation President Mario Marcos personally supervised the project in which the foundation distributed over 100 sacks of rice to the residents of Barangay Maninila, Barangay Masarawag, Guinobatan, Albay. Barangay Paulog, Ligao city. “This project is my gift to the typhoon victims of Albay.” Mario Marcos said while handing out rice to the residents of the mentioned Barangays. The residents of the benefited barangays were very grateful for the blessing they received. Aside from Kung Hei Fat Choi project, S.M.A.R.T. Foundation regularly organizes gift giving projects to the less fortunate on Christmas Day.
